Exceptional Challenges: Exceptional Responses

8:15 a.m. – 3:45 p.m. – Program

Healthcare professionals persevere in the face of uncertainties and insurmountable odds. The healthcare community repeatedly faces exceptional challenges, like a large-scale pandemic and the death of a patient.  Whether a remarkable or everyday challenge, success in these circumstances often turns on effective communication between multiple types of professionals that comprise risk management teams. As we (lawyers, insurance brokers, nurses, physicians, management, etc.) work to reduce risk in healthcare institutions, the effectiveness of our communication is tested by the onslaught of social media, an industry shift to telemedicine, and intercultural dynamics, among other things.
